So, you are invited to a Karaoke party this weekend. You want to show your colleagues and friends that you are an awesome singer, right? However, there is one small problem with this situation. You are NOT the best singer. Well, here are 6 tips which can help you increase the quality of your performance by a significant amount.
Choose the Song And Machine You Are Comfortable With
Never try to go out of your way to sing a song that you are not comfortable with.Always choose best karaoke machine and song as well which suit your personality. The stage is not the best place to experiment. Always choose a song that suits your style and voice. If you naturally have a high-pitched tone, select a karaoke song that has a lot of highs and not too many lows. Also, try and choose a song that you have been listening to for years. This way, you will spend more time making genuine and likable eye contact with people instead of reading the lyrics off the screen.
Do Not Hold the Microphone Too Close or Too Far Away
This is the biggest rookie mistake you can make. Make sure that there is at least a 4-finger and at max your palm’s length of the gap between your mouth and the microphone. By holding the microphone too close to your mouth, you will blow a lot of air into it. On holding it far away, the microphone won’t be able to catch your voice correctly. Do perform a test operation before starting the song.
Drink Plenty of Water Before the Performance
If you are going to perform 2 or more songs in a row, make sure that you have had plenty of water to drink. Your mouth and throat can instantly run dry especially when you are tensed about performing in front of a live audience. If possible, keep a water bottle with you, so that you can take a quick sip between stanzas.
Add a Little Skip to the Performance
Do not hesitate in performing a few signature dance moves on the stage. After all, your performance comprises of your singing as well as entertainment talents. You can also invite your partner to sing along with you on stage, in the middle of the song. The audience will recognize this as a very romantic gesture.
Practice, Practice, and Practice
Practice makes a man perfect. Record and listen to your singing before performing on stage. Also, get a valuable opinion from people whom you trust to ensure that you give it your best shot.
Have a Lot of Fun
Do not forget to have fun on the stage! It is a party, and the best time to let yourself loose. Even if you perform horribly, it is important that you have fun just like everyone else at the party. Never go uptight or tensed on the stage.
Following these tips will make you a Rockstar, at least in your way. Have fun, because, you only live once!
